Moving to California? Help for Packing and Shipping Your Life

If you are a transplant to the state of California like I am, then you know how stressful moving is. Moving to California is not just about adjusting to a new state – or in my case – a different coast. When I moved from New York to California, I felt like I was uprooting myself and my entire life across 3000 miles.
Because I was a poor graduate student, I didn’t have many possessions to my name. My single most valuable possession was my ’92 Pontiac Grand Am. When I was moving, there was no question that the car was going to move with me. I wasn’t going to drive it by myself across the country (frankly, I wasn’t sure it would make the 3000 mile drive), so I used a “local” cargo shipping service. Back then, few businesses had a robust online presence, and I used the yellow pages. My car arrived safely and without incidence, but I was on edge the entire time that the car was “in transit” because I had no idea where it was.
Times have changed. Now, if I needed to use cargo shipping service, I could visit a website like Schumacher Cargo Logistics to research fees, reserve a shipment, and track my shipment. I’d be able to use their online tracking service to see where in the U.S. my precious cargo was, and it would give me peace of mind. Everything you need to have a smooth cargo moving experience is located on the left hand menu bar of the Schumacher Cargo Logistics website.
What I like about the Schumacher Cargo Logistics website is the clear disclosure of rates and tariffs and the ability to pay online. Shipping a car, for example, is not an insignificant charge, and having an idea of the fees involved can help you plan your finances of moving to California. I looked around the company information area and noticed that the testimonials seemed to be directed to specific individuals. I took this as a good sign because it means those clients actually worked with a person in the company rather than being handed off from staff member to staff member. The testimonials came from customers from within and outside the US, and are all very complimentary, so I checked in the BBB database just to make sure. I was pleasantly surprised to see that Schumacher Cargo Logistics is a member company in the BBB database and has a “A” rating. The company has resolved most of the filed complaints, although I wasn’t able to get information on what the complaints were. I performed additional due diligence by searching the web for consumer experiences with the company, and did not find red flags that would concern me about the integrity and track record of the company.
A suggestion I’d offer for the company is in “Our Process” section. In addition to the descriptive text of a cursive overview of what you can expect as a customer, it can be helpful to provide an example or a “case study” that explains to a prospective customer the customer service he or she can expect from start to finish.
Packing and shipping your life to California do not need to be a very stressful experience, even if you are looking to ship large items like your car. Schumacher Cargo Logistics is a specialist that handles cargo shipping, and can be a first stop for your research.
