Redondo Beach will turn 114 years old on April 29, 2006! The city will be holding a birthday celebration from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. at the Redondo Beach Historical Museum, 302 Flagler Lane. History of Redondo Beach from the official city website.

I moved from upstate New York to California, and have been living in Redondo Beach since 1999. I don’t know very much about the city – for example – that the Redondo pier is one of the longest piers in North America and is known as the “Endless Pier.” I’m still puzzled at the shape of Redondo Beach (an “L”); we are closer to our neighbors in Manhattan Beach than those in South Redondo. I know I love the southbay weather and the beach cities! I hope to use this blog to learn more about Redondo and connect with the beach cities community :-)
