Right now the housing market is boasting some of the lowest prices never before seen. While it’s incredibly difficult to sell, some see it as a buyer’s market with lots of opportunities to score a home for a very reasonable price. If you are looking to buy a home, you’re most likely going to need to enlist some help in the form of a real estate agent. A realtor will help you navigate the market and hopefully connect you with your dream home. They should help simplify the process for you, and they should be able to share some great knowledge and insight with you. There are lots of realtors out there who would love the opportunity to help you buy a house. It’s your task to find the one agent who will help you the best. If you’re looking to buy a house, here is how to choose a great realtor.

Get Referrals

If you know anyone who’s recently bought or sold a home, as them if they’d recommend the agent who helped them. This might be the best way for you to find a good real estate agent. People you trust and who have had success might be best able to connect you with someone who will help you, too. And since your friends and family know you, they’ll be able to suggest someone who will work well with your personality. Start by contacting realtors you’ve been referred to.

Check Licensing

To be an official “Realtor,” a real estate agent must be a member of the National Association of Realtors. These realtors are professionally obligated to abide by a strict Code of Ethics. Check with the National Association of Realtors to make sure that anyone you’re considering is a member. These realtors also have access to the Multiple Listing Service. This is a very comprehensive database of homes that are for sale, and it will allow your realtor to search for homes beyond just the ones they’re aware of.

Experience

You’ll need to meet a potential realtor and discuss with them their experience and expertise. You want to pick a realtor who is experienced with homes in the price range you’re looking for, as well as the area that you’re looking at. The more specific knowledge they have, the better they’ll be able to help you. If they’re new to the area, they won’t have the insight and understanding you’re looking for. You also want someone who is experienced and successful with matching buyers with homes.

Personality

You want to pick a realtor that you like, as well. They should be someone you trust and can easily talk to. You want them to help you find your dream home, so you want someone who is a good listener and who you feel truly tries to understand exactly what you’re looking for. They should take a detailed interest in your expectations, must-haves or deal-breakers when it comes to a home. Realtors who make an extra effort to get to know you will be better able to match you with a home they think you’ll enjoy. You want someone who will fully devote themselves to helping you buy a home, and if they do, they’re much more likely to succeed.

There are a couple of theories about why, in Empire Strikes Back, when Luke is dueling with Vader, Luke decided to fall off the ledge.

Now, both of which are my personal speculation and from a complete lack of direct authority (after all, most of my experience with Star Wars looks something like this:

Believe it or not, if you haven’t started blogging, you are not alone! Many people get by just fine on Facebook and email, and see no use in blogging. But if you do want to start and find the idea intimidating, here’s a short piece on how to pick.

The major 2 players in the blogging world are WordPress.com and Blogger.com. I no longer use wordpress.com or blogger.com – but for my blogs – like this one – and even some websites I use wordpress.org (self hosted) exclusively.

I love wordpress.org (self-hosted) both for blogging and for content management. For a beginner, though, I’d not recommend these 2 major players. Why? It’s not because you can’t “get” it – it’s because you probably don’t want to spend too much time trying to figure out all the bells and whistles you honestly don’t need. More »
